As a result of its size, China's climate ranges from snow filled peaks in the north to the humid and tropical monsoon climate in the south and southeast. Historically, China has always been administered in provinces. Today, there are 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities and 2 special administrative regions . Hong Kong and Macao.
